Johnny Gargano

“The Whole Shebang” Johnny Gargano says he is all heart, and after seeing him compete, it’s hard to argue. Gargano first stepped foot into a professional wrestling ring at the tender age of 8, and from that day forward Gargano had a new goal in life. Admittedly, his path to pro wrestler became a bit clearer when he got old enough to realize “ninja turtle” or “power ranger” were not actual occupations, Gargano has not lost his childlike innocence and exuberance outside the ring, an endearing quality in the eyes of many of his fans, but all traces of fun and games go away once “The Bees’ Knees & Cat’s Pajamas” enters a wrestling ring. With a dazzling array of offensive weapons, Gargano can fly high, strike hard, and out-wrestle most he comes into contact with. Citing the likes of Alex Shelley, Chris Jericho, and Shawn Michaels as influences, Gargano has fused their styles together beautifully to create a truly dangerous combination of speed and technique, usually finishing opponents with either the “Hurts Donut” (a move Gargano invented himself) or the “GargaNO Escape” submission. Gargano’s first ever match took place on his 18th birthday, the youngest he could legally wrestle according to Ohio state law, and quickly separated himself from the pack, having memorable matches with Ohio staples like M-Dogg Matt Cross & Josh Prohibition, and later talent such as Nigel McGuinness, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, and even Alex Shelley himself… most of which occurring before Gargano’s 21st birthday. After conquering his home-state, Gargano ventured to Dragon Gate USA, holding their top championship for nearly 1,200 days cumulatively, a feat nearly unheard of in this day and age. Gargano has competed all over the world, including Russia, Japan, and China, and shows no signs of letting up. It was only fitting and poetic that Gargano’s Global Force Wrestling debut occurred back in Gargano’s hometown of Cleveland, and saw him victorious once again. Everywhere Gargano has been, he has proven he can (and usually does) become the franchise player of that organization. Can Gargano solidify himself as the face of GFW?
